Memorial Day Weekend at Saratoga County Fairgrounds - Ballston Spa, NY

The weekend features concerts and workshops on Saturday and Sunday, a family country dance on Saturday night, a PSG open stage Sunday afternoon, and an a capella sing Sunday night. New for our growing audience, we have a new generation folk concert FRIDAY NIGHT with some great up-and-coming talent. GottaGetGon audiences like to be part of the music, so performers not only have the opportunity to showcase their music, but can count on enthusiastic participation as well.

Bring (low) folding chairs and some food for yourself. All events in covered buildings. Rain is never a problem.

Lunch Break
Concert	1:15-2:00pm	Jean Rohe with Liam Robinson - Discoved at the The NJ Folk-Project, they wowed us at the last year's "New Folk Concert" and again while on tour at Caffe Lena. Jean and Liam project a confident, literate, engaging tone. Humor, traditional musical skill, and winning ways mark this duo.
workshops	2:15-3:00pm	Songs of Northeast Brazil (Townley Bldg) - Jean Rohe Tune Swap - (Lewis Bldg) "Have you heard this one?" or this way, old & new - Deb Cowan & Alex Mitchell
Concert	3:15-4:00pm	Del Rey one of the most influential and pioneering female blues musicians and guitarists of our time. Her superb skills on steel guitar & uke and her sophisticated musical humor pervade the performance.
2nd set of workshops	4:15-5:15pm	WomanSong (Townley Bldg) Songs of the powerful, meek, put-upon, & rise above, ... -- Deb Cowan & Del Rey Accompaniment (Lewis Bldg) support & background for your songs, applied to different genres - Jean Rohe, Alex Mitchell & friends Dance Warmup for younger folk (Main - 4H) learn a thing or 2- Paul Rosenberg caller with music by Jim & Sue Mead
eve. workshop	6:15-7:50pm	Swinging (music) with Dave Crump (site TBA) Bring your instrument, voice, dancing feet or just swing and sway with the music.
Country Dance	8:00-10:30pm	“Barn” Dance - (4H main bldg) all welcome - no experience necessary. Dance caller Paul Rosenberg, with music supplied by Alexander Mitchell Band & friends

Lunch Break
Concert	1:00-1:45pm	Debra Cowan her rich voice conjures images of stony grey Celtic castles, green and rolling English landscapes, and humorous American urban scenes; stunning.
workshops	2:00-2:45pm	Beginning Guitar, (Townley) Your next few steps into folk music - Deb Cowan Memphis Minnie, (Lewis) she was the greatest female country blues singer of 20's-40's - Del Rey
Concert	3:00-3:45pm	Alexander Mitchell Band (Alex Mitchell, Matt Levine, Henry Koretsky, Frank Stetner) - fiddle, mandolin, guitar , bass and a beautiful singing voice. (Alex graduated from Berklee & plays with Walt Michael, etc; easily understated.)
Open mic	4:15-6:00pm	Open Stage - your musical talent; try your best stuff (Host: Don Burger) - see sign-up list.
after dinner	7:15-8:00pm	Charlie on the MTA (Lewis bldg) - Jackie Steiner Informal Drumming Circle - (main 4H bldg) Bring a drum or borrow one or just listen
.	Evening	a capella sing (Townley bidg.) could break-out at any time around dusk (estimate 8:20pm) Sit in a circle around a small camp light and singalong.
Monday - 25-May-09 Memorial Day	by 2:00pm	Pack-up & Good-byes, good memories 'til next time. If you enjoyed yourself consider joining PSG - we have other smaller events. (see contact info. below)

Unscheduled pickin' & singin' anytime, mostly in the evening - lot's of good folk jam sessions. Bring your instrument or just "gather".

Rates: Adult: $20/day or $5 after 5:30pm. Rates for student 22 and under are half price.

to the country, where music takes over for the weekend.
